In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), residents have been warned of electronic fraud and scam by the Abu Dhabi Prosecution.
In a new video on the social media platform Twitter on Tuesday, the authority asked the UAE residents to exercise caution while shopping online.
The Abu Dhabi Prosecution said that scammers take advantage of the spread of social media and advertise their products through fake websites at heavily discounted rates. The social media users then fall victim to such deals and lose their money to fraudsters.

“There are many forms and methods of electronic fraud, in light of the widespread use of social media platforms, as scammers take advantage of this spread to advertise products and goods through unreliable or fake websites at discounted prices, to entrap their victims and seize their money.
Therefore, the Abu Dhabi Prosecution calls on members of the community to investigate websites by reviewing customer views, permanent and renewed activity of the site, communication data and see the manual of purchasing policies,” said Mohammed Al Hassani, the Chief Prosecutor – Major Financial Crimes Prosecution.
