Dubai Police apprehend reckless youth for two-wheel driving

DUBAI, UAE: Dubai Police have apprehended a young man for recklessly driving his vehicle in the Nad Al Sheba area.

The arrested young man was seen in a video circulating on social media performing reckless stunts by driving his vehicle on two wheels thus putting his own life and the lives of other road users at serious risks.

The Deputy Director of the General Department of Traffic (GDT) Brigadier Juma Salem bin Suwaidan explained that the motorist was immediately identified and summoned, where he admitted to performing stunt-like manoeuvres such as driving the car on two wheels while navigating a roundabout and drifting, which posed a severe threat to his own safety as well as the safety of other road users.

Brigadier Juma bin Suwaidan further added that Dubai Police traffic patrols seized the vehicle involved in the dangerous stunts and imposed a fee of AED 50,000 against impoundment release per Decree 30 of 2023 concerning vehicle impoundment.

The Deputy Director of the GDT warned all motorists against reckless and hazardous behaviour on the roads and explained that the law imposes penalties on drivers whose actions endanger their own lives, the lives of others, their safety or security, or damage to the road infrastructure.
