The BRICS group of nations has included the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Saudi Arabia, Iran, Argentina, Egypt, and Ethiopia as new members of the bloc.
Meanwhile, the UAE President His Highness Sheikh Mohamed bin Zayed Al Nahyan has appreciated the BRICS leadership for including the UAE as a member of the group.
“We look forward to a continued commitment of cooperation for the prosperity, dignity and benefit of all nations and people around the world,” the UAE president wrote on X, formerly Twitter.

Earlier, the South African President Cyril Ramaphosa confirmed the invitation to these Countries.
“We have decided to invite the Argentine Republic, the Arab Republic of Egypt, the Federal Democratic Republic of Ethiopia, the Islamic Republic of Iran, the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia, and the UAE, to become full members of Brics. The membership will take effect from the first of January 2024,” Cyril Ramaphosa told a Summit in Johannesburg.
