In the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Sharjah and Dubai authorities have announced New Year Holiday in their respective Emirates for the government employees.
In a statement, Sharjah’s Department of Human Resources announced that January 01, 2024 would be the official New Year’s holiday for all government departments, bodies and institutions across the Emirate.
Official working hours are expected to resume from January 02, 2024.
The announcement of the New Year Holiday in Sharjah from January 01 translates to a four-day weekend for government employees in the Emirate.
Separately, the Dubai authority also declared New Year’s paid holiday for its government sector as January 01, 2024.
Earlier last week, the federal government and the Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation announced that January 01 would be a holiday for employees in both public and private sectors.
