Earlier on Sunday night, the Saudi Supreme Court announced that the Dhu Al-Hijjah Crescent Moon had been sighted in the Kingdom; therefore, June 19 (Monday) would mark the beginning of the 12th Islamic Month and Arafat Day would be June 27 (Tuesday).

Arafat Day falls on Tuesday, the 27 of June, and Wednesday, June 28, will be the first day of Eid Al Adha,” according to a Saudi Supreme Court statement published by the Saudi Press Agency (SPA).

Eid Al Adha, the Islamic festival, commemorates the willingness of Prophet Ibrahim to sacrifice his son Ismail on Allah’s command.

Meanwhile, the UAE’s Ministry of Human Resources and Emiratisation has announced four public holidays for the Private Sector from June 27 to June 30 (Dhu Al-Hijjah 09 to 12 as per the Islamic Hijri Calendar) in connection with Arafat Day and Eid Al Adha.

However, since June 30 will be followed by the weekend (Saturday-Sunday), the employees will enjoy holidays till July 02.
